The Made and
The Found
We gather objects for the home; ceramics, textiles, glassware, candles and linens to name but a few - made by independent workshops and family studios across the UK and Europe.
Each piece arrives by way of a person. A potter in Cornwall, a linen mill in Ireland, a woodworker in Wales. We choose slowly, guided by material, by hand, by use. We are not interested in the hurried or the disposable. We look for what is well-made, quietly resolved, and what will endure.
Some things are simple. Some carry a note of whimsy. All are intended to be lived with.
This shop is not a catalogue of trends. It is a collection shaped by travel, conversation and curiosity. A way of seeing the domestic world as something worth paying attention to.
The Street and
The House
You will find us in Notting Hill, among stucco terraces and market streets, where London feels at once village-like and cosmopolitan. It is a neighbourhood of layers: antique dealers and grocers, grand houses and small ateliers, colour and restraint.
We are proud to add our chapter to that fabric. The façade is modest; inside, the space unfolds into a room that invites lingering. Shelves built to hold weight. Tables meant for gathering objects together. Light that shifts through the day and changes the tone of linen and clay.
A shop is never only about what it sells. It absorbs the conversations, the seasons, the passing of time. We hope ours will do the same.
Objects with a Life
Once, it was understood that objects carried stories. You knew where a plate was made, who threw the jug, why a pattern existed. Things were repaired, handed down, kept.
Now, so much is anonymous and immediate.
Sheppard & Daughters is a small resistance to that forgetting. We ask questions. Who made this? From what? How will it age? We visit studios, speak to makers, and learn the processes behind what sits on our shelves.
What may appear ordinary, a bowl, a napkin, a brush, shapes the rituals of daily life. Morning coffee. Supper with friends. A quiet evening at home. These gestures form the backdrop of our days.
To choose an object carefully is to mark those moments as meaningful.
A Place to Belong
We are delighted to welcome you through the door. Thank you for supporting independent makers, small workshops and the slow work of craft.
Sheppard & Daughters is, above all, a shop for building a home over time.
From near and far.
From hand to hand.
From maker to you.
